Tapped Into Coastal Charm: Meet Tidal Taps Galveston

Meet Tidal Taps Galveston – the island’s one-of-a-kind mobile tap truck bringing serious charm, creativity, and cold drinks to your celebration! This BOI + MOI husband-and-wife team transformed their wedding planning passion into a coastal-inspired business, complete with hand-built tap rentals like Blue Lucy and Pearl Bar. From bubbly mocktails to signature cocktails (and even boba tea!), their interactive bars aren’t just functional—they’re unforgettable. With big dreams for the future and deep island roots, Tidal Taps is here to raise the bar for Galveston weddings and events.

Tell us a little about yourselves! What inspired you to start Tidal Taps Galveston?

I had the best time planning our wedding! I especially loved going to bridal shows and getting to chat with all the unique vendors, learning about what services they provided and just enjoying the day with my mom and bridesmaids. I knew that one day I wanted to participate as a vendor myself, and knew I wanted to offer a fun, unique rental that could be something interactive to give guests that last memory of a super fun wedding. We love to DIY, which is why I knew Chris could build me something! I had so much fun designing both rentals and bringing my visions to life!

As a BOI and MOI husband-and-wife duo, how does your local connection influence your business?

We know a lot of really great people here on the island who are nothing but supportive of our new adventure! It is so encouraging to have that support and being able to network the way we have has been a thrill, and so heartwarming. It makes me excited to move forward and truly shows me this is what I should be doing!

Blue Lucy is such a unique concept! What was the process like designing and building your self-serve tap truck?

Being able to bring my vision to life is so satisfying and makes me so proud! I didn’t have much of a blue print (aside from some inspo pictures), I just knew what I wanted it to look like and how guests would have that interactive experience and Chris made it happen! He is a mechanic by trait and SO good with building, so I feel very lucky to have such a handy husband by my side! We wanted that coastal/nautical look because we live on the water, and both come from families of boat captains and fishermen! That’s why I knew I wanted a mother of pearl shell tile! We recently added the custom garland made by a fellow tap truck owner who is a floral designer. These details matter to me and as time goes on, we are adding to what is included for our clients to use at no additional charge.

What kinds of beverages can couples serve from Blue Lucy?

I always say “anything cold that can be strained”. We fill corny kegs with the drinks or use pre-kegged beverages from suppliers. They can be carbonated or not, alcoholic or nonalcoholic. We can pour draft beer, wine, signature cocktails, mocktails, sodas, teas/lemonades, cold brew coffee, even boba tea! There are so many options! I LOVE a good theme, so we can come up with a customized bar menu to fit the theme of the event. Clients can add on a build-it-yourself bar with all the fixings for margaritas & micheladas, mimosas, coffees, boba or dirty sodas. We have customize it with fun garnishes!

You recently launched Pearl Bar! Can you tell us more about this new addition and how it enhances your services?

Unlike Blue Lucy, Pearl bar has very little location limitations but can serve up all the same options on tap! It is super compact and only takes up about 4ft x 4ft of space. It features a tap tower that has 2 taps. Like Blue Lucy, it does not require any power which makes the options of where it can be set up even more flexible. With this rental we also offer the option to add-on cooler service for canned/bottled drinks or wine.

What types of events do you typically serve, and what are some of your most memorable weddings or celebrations?

We serve lots of different types of events like kids & adult birthday, open house for a realtor, bridal and baby showers, bachelorette party, and weddings of course! We recently had the honor of serving our veterans at a ceremony at the Galveston Naval museum. We set up Blue Lucy right next to the USS Cavalla submarine to celebrate her 81st birthday! That was very cool, and they are having us back out again in a couple weeks!

What’s the biggest advantage of having a mobile tap service for weddings and events?

There are a few advantages, but the biggest I would think would be the ability to add that unique, interactive experience, and awesome photo opp to your wedding, while marking the bar off your list at the same time! Second would be having the flexibility to serve up a large quantity of a variety of signature drinks (essentially an open bar), while being completely in control of the budget.

What advice do you have for couples looking to incorporate a tap truck or mobile bar into their wedding?

Have fun with it! You’d be surprised at what all your options are, so don’t think it can’t be done! I always suggest adding a little personal touch to the tap truck. This could be custom cups, drink stirrers, or even just adding a few florals to match the wedding décor.

What’s next for Tidal Taps Galveston? Any exciting plans or expansions on the horizon?

We are definitely looking forward to expanding! I would love to eventually hire on some more bartenders, build more mobile bars, and of course add on more tap trucks in the future. I want to have a little fleet of them! We currently have 1 project that will take some time as it is another restoration project, but will be a super unique rental option with wheels!
