Holiday Cheer!
Linda and Russ got married between the Christmas and New Year holidays. Since they were traveling to Galveston from Austin, and they had family traveling from across the country, it was a great time of year for everyone to be together. This also allowed them to host their wedding on a Sunday. They had a microwedding with 16 guests at the Tremont Ballroom, and because they were having such a small number of people, and no other events were scheduled that day, they were able to have their ceremony on the grand staircase in the lobby. Since the lobby was all decked out for Christmas, they didn't have to do any decorating for the ceremony!
Their reception took place in the Annex. Since they are whisky enjoyers, they found a variety of unique whiskey bottles to use as centerpieces, along with shells Linda had found on our Galveston beaches. They leaned into red and blue as their color scheme with guests also dressing in these colors, which made for some awesome group photos.
A highlight of their celebration was the food. The Tremont has some incredible catering options. They had a buffet with various salads, steamed veggies, and sirloin. But the real MVP was the choose your own pasta bar. A cook right on site let you choose your pasta, sauce, and add ins, and cooked right on the spot. For a dessert, they had a flambeed donut hole station which was also quite a show!
Because they wanted to spend as much time mingling with with their families as possible, in lieu of a DJ or band, they created a playlist, plugged in a speaker, and let it go, and there was always someone on the dance floor!
Linda had one special request for the end of the night, and that was to get a group photo under the Mardi Gras arch. Thanks to all the drivers that let us take over the street for a few minutes to make it happen!

Advice for Future Couples:
Our island has so much to offer at every time of year. While the Christmas and New Year season can be a more expensive time to travel, it may be a more convenient time to gather family, especially if they were going to be traveling anyway. Choosing a less popular day of the week, in this case a Sunday, can also help alleviate some expense and give you a larger pool of options for unbooked venues. It's a great alternative to the busy summer season where you are also contending with the heat!
